Southern California Wildfire Relief and Recovery

In response to the devastating wildfires in the greater Los Angeles region, the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco is making a $2 million contribution to aid recovery efforts and provide front line support in communities impacted by the Southern California wildfires.
This contribution includes $1.4 million in disaster relief funds to match donations that our members make to local relief organizations in support of the communities they serve. In addition, a total of $600,000 is being donated directly to the California Fire Foundation and to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA).
FHLBank San Francisco members are eligible to receive up to 2:1 matching contributions on donations made by our members on or after January 7, 2025, to nonprofit or tribal organizations providing support to communities affected by wildfires and other natural disasters. Funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with a $50,000 annual limit per member.

Matching member contributions are one of several FHLBank San Francisco funding tools and grants that you can use to meet the urgent and longer-term needs of your customers and communities, which include our discounted credit programs that are available to help finance affordable housing, economic development projects, and other community revitalization activities.
To assist members with announcing donations, we are available to collaborate on messaging related to your contribution. We are providing members with a communications toolkit (also downloadable in Word) that can be used as a resource to help inform customers, community stakeholders, and media about member donations that are being matched by the Bank. Please contact Chris Hammond, Associate Director, Corporate Communications for assistance with your efforts.
