Grants for Housing and Economic Development

Our grant programs can help close persistent resource gaps in communities our members serve.

For member financial institutions working in partnership with local affordable housing developers and community development organizations, we offer access to funding that is used to produce or preserve affordable housing, facilitate sustainable homeownership, and boost economic development activity, helping to create opportunities for individuals and families and build or strengthen communities.

FHLBank San Francisco’s Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grants help to ensure that people in need – including lower-income families and individuals, the chronically unhoused, seniors, veterans, at-risk youth, people overcoming addiction, people with disabilities, and many others – can have an affordable place to call home. The AHP consists of the General Fund, which offers funding for affordable housing projects in Arizona, California, Nevada, and other areas our members do business, and the Nevada Targeted Fund, which specifically funds affordable housing projects in Nevada.

Matching grants from our WISH first-time homebuyer program enables families and individuals to put down roots in the neighborhood where they want to live and build wealth through homeownership.

With a boost from our AHEAD economic development grants, local nonprofits, agencies, and associations can get innovative jobs programs up and running or continue to provide vital social services in underserved communities.
