Adrianna and Ricardo Peraza dreamed of one day owning their own home, for themselves and to pass on to their children. Hard work, participation in a Family Self-Sufficiency program, and a boost from a $15,000 IDEA Program matching grant made their dream come true.
AHEAD grants, made to Bank members working with local community groups, provide early-stage funding for targeted economic development projects and housing initiatives that benefit lower income communities. Applications must be received by June 9.
The Bank awarded $7.4 million in WISH funds and $1.6 million in IDEA funds to 25 member financial institutions to help low- to moderate-income families and individuals buy a home.
The Bank's Affordable Housing Advisory Council, which provides expert guidance on affordable housing and economic development issues and helps shape the Bank’s community investment grant programs and credit products, has elected a new chair, Ralph Lippman, and vice chair, Dean Matsubayashi.
Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley will celebrate the completion of Pleasant Creek Homes on June 7. This development was built in partnership with the City of Walnut Creek and Contra Costa County and received an AHP grant through Bank member Meriwest Credit Union.

Community Investment staff will present information about the Bank’s WISH and IDEA first-time homebuyer programs at the San Francisco Housing Expo, a free event where future homebuyers and current homeowners can connect with information, local resources, and professional service providers to learn more about homeownership opportunities or foreclosure prevention.
The Bank will be one of the sponsors of the California Association for Micro Enterprise Opportunity's annual meeting and conference, where members and others will celebrate 20 years of advancing the development of micro business throughout the state.

Little Tokyo Service Center Sake Express

Every dollar raised at this annual sake and food tasting event will help Little Tokyo Service Center, a Community Development Corporation, make a difference in the lives of people in need of social services, counseling, affordable housing, and childcare. LTSC Executive Director Dean Matsubayashi currently serves as vice chair of the Bank's Affordable Housing Advisory Council.
