The Affordable Housing Program (AHP) is central to FHLBank San Francisco’s mission of providing resources that make communities more vibrant, equitable, and resilient. By participating in the AHP, our members and their development partners play a vital role in expanding access to quality housing and offering lower-income families and individuals an affordable place to call home.
Our 2020 AHP funding competition is now open. AHP applications are submitted by our members in partnership with community-based housing sponsors/developers, who are invited to reach out to us to connect with Bank members active in our AHP. Application materials are available on our website, and all applications must be submitted electronically via the Bank’s secure portal.

Each year, we fund our AHP with 10% of the Bank’s net income from the prior year. In the Bank's 2019 AHP competition, we awarded $51.2 million to support 60 projects; details about projects that were awarded subsidies in the past are available on our website. Since 1990 the Bank has awarded over $1.1 billion in grants to support the construction, rehabilitation, or purchase of over 142,000 units of quality affordable housing for lower-income households in Arizona, California, Nevada, and other regions served by our members.
