Title: Secondary Marketing Analyst I
Salary Range: Salary commensurate with experience.
Purpose
Supports the Secondary Marketing Risk Management functions by evaluating and mapping member data files. Assists with the valuation of pledged whole loan and securities collateral; assists in benchmarking studies; performs research regarding collateral issues; and prepares recommendations regarding margin capacities for all securities collateral. Assists in credit analysis and pricing of the Bank's whole loan portfolio. Assists in monitoring the credit risks associated with the Bank’s portfolio of mortgage–related securities (non-Agency MBS, Agency MBS, housing agency bonds) in order to provide timely indication of deterioration in credit quality.
Major Accountabilities
- Create data maps to accurately import mortgage collateral data into the Bank’s Collateral Management System.
- Assist in the updating and improvement of member data files in accordance with the Bank’s goals of expanding collateral data reporting.
- Assist in the review and approval process for all customer data files processed by Collateral Operations.
- Coordinate corrections to submitted media between member, servicer, and loan servicing bureau. Troubleshoot media with processing problems and identify and recommend best solution.
- Research industry guidelines and canvass service bureaus regarding standard reporting of data for new mortgage products. Make recommendations on modifications to media formats.
- Maintain data format and domain values in line with industry best practices.
- Direct communication of changes to all affected parties and coordination of testing and implementing such changes.
- Coordinate conversions from one data format to a new data format resulting from either changes associated with the collateral system or member’s change in reporting.
- Assist Secondary Marketing in the global pricing processes on CMS.
- Assist in supporting the operational aspects of all other Secondary Marketing functions, including preparation of collateral concentration reports and pricing reports.
- Assist with the review of incoming securities to determine eligibility and ensure eligible securities are assigned the correct borrowing capacity.
- Assist in preparing monthly reports for senior management and the Board of Directors that portray the safety, soundness and mix, and associated risks of securities and mortgages pledged to the Bank.
- Participate in periodic benchmarking and validation projects and preparation of credit committee proposals and assist in the periodic evaluation of the accuracy of the pricing services used by the Bank.
- Monitor Bank-owned whole loan portfolio with regard to eligibility, delinquencies, and servicer performance, as well as adequacy of credit support.
- Assist in preparing Bank-owned whole loan portfolio monitoring reports for senior management per the Bank’s Asset Classification Policy and Credit Risk Framework.
- Assist in the evaluation of servicers and sub-servicers in the Bank’s whole loan portfolio and reviews Data Provider, Master Servicer, and Custodians.
- Assist in the maintenance, coordination, and development of department policies and procedures.
- Maintain the integrity of data stored in department databases. Perform modifications and enhancements to department databases and supports the securities collateral database.
- Serve as back up for Secondary Marketing Analysts with regard to routine tasks.
- Assist in MBS Credit Risk Monitoring function: review collateral performance relative to established triggers; monitor portfolio concentrations and compliance with aggregate portfolio limits; perform credit reviews of selected MBS transactions exceeding benchmark triggers to determine adequacy of credit support relative to assigned rating; perform stress testing of credit support for selected transactions using LP Risk Model and IntexNet software; assist with other projects as needed.
Skills/Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Business. Comparable work experience will be considered.
- One to three years’ experience with mortgage related securities (i.e. Agency and non-agency, passthroughs, collateralized mortgage obligations, etc., in an operations or similar work-related environment.
- Experience or familiarity with a variety of software tools including Yield Book Levels and Bloomberg Analytics.
- Knowledge of credit and interest rate attributes, assumptions, and processes used to value various types of loans and securities.
- Ability to analyze offering documents, prospectuses, and remittance reports to assist in the modeling of MBS collateral and deal structures.
- Familiarity with databases and data retrieval techniques.
- Good analytical and research skills.
- Some knowledge of fixed-income valuation concepts, option theory, and basic business statistics.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients and industry professionals.
