Title: AVP, Portfolio and Derivatives Operations

Salary Range: Salary commensurate with experience.

Purpose
Provide business support for production processing and reporting applications in Portfolio and Derivative Operations. Develop and define business and technical requirements for system replacements and enhancements. Develop all financial and management reporting and lead various special projects for the Department. Assure the quality of the Bank’s projects associated with the Portfolio and Derivative Operations groups by acting as a liaison between the business users and Information Technology. Manage all functional aspects of a system project's lifecycle, from initiation through delivery, with a focus on delivering defined business requirements.


Major Accountabilities
  • Directly responsible for managing testing efforts for new or updated department systems, including developing, implementing, and documenting the testing approach and plan, creating test cases and test scripts, executing tests, and reporting progress to management.
    • Manages the internal staff and contractors performing user acceptance testing of in-house developed or third-party system applications.
    • Works with applications development staff to ensure that the design, development, configuration, and implementation of new applications and enhancements to existing systems meet business needs. 
  • Establishes ownership of Bank’s Datamart structures and reporting tools for department operations and management. Responsible for report development and data integrity, which includes sufficient testing, documentation, and establishment of required controls to ensure reliance for financial reporting purposes. Works closely with auditors, including SOX compliance, to provide sufficient support for department’s processes and reporting.
  • Monitors progress of ongoing department system projects. Communicates potential implications of proposed business plans and technology solutions and provides alternatives to management. Integrates Bank project task schedules with other production operations activities. Provides project management support in compliance with applicable Bank policies and standards for assigned projects/programs.
  • Works with Application Services support managers to transition applications from the test to the production environment.
  • Diagnoses and resolves complex system reporting problems.
  • Provides business and system support for in-house developed applications or third-party applications used by the department. Acts as lead for department applications and reporting.

Skills/Knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent education, required. CPA preferred.
  • Seven to ten years of progressively responsible experience in financial accounting and reporting, and/or experience in business analysis and planning and systems testing; three years in a supervisory or lead role. Experience in financial services preferred.
  • Three years of experience related to derivatives accounting and reporting. Working knowledge of fixed income products and derivative instruments.
  • Demonstrated experience with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements as related to business processes and controls.
  • Ability to operate PC-based software programs required; advanced Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel skills required. Experience in using report writing and/or business intelligence tools (e.g. Business Objects, Crystal Reports, SQL) to create reports highly desired.
  • Ability to apply sound standards and policies while considering business needs and justifiable exceptions.
  • Demonstrated experience with multiple aspects of Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) -  e.g. requirements analysis, quality assurance, project management - or software development is desired.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to take the initiative to pursue assignments, responsibilities, and support requests to a logical and final solution.
